Step 3: Stay in the Loop

Athletes.org’s Creator Tourney begins March 17th! Approved participants will receive new content prompts each week to create fresh videos. Competitors will go head-to-head in bracket-style matchups, advancing through rounds based on engagement and judges’ scores. Specific competition dates, weekly prompts, and updates will be announced on AO’s social media channels—remember to follow us at @Athletesorg to participate!

Prompt:

Why do college athletes need a players association?

...and why Athletes.org is that association.

Everyone in the athletics world has an association to represent them—professional athletes, coaches, college administrators, and more. Everyone except college athletes. It’s time for that to change.

Create an engaging piece of video content that shows the world why college athletes need a players association of their own—and why Athletes.org (AO) is that association.

Guidelines

Competition Rules:

  • To enter the competition and be placed within the bracket, you must submit an entry video by March 16th via the submission form at the bottom of the page. Make sure to review the prompt before filming and submitting your video.
  • Athletes.org’s Creator Tourney is open to all participants. There are no requirements to be a current or former athlete, and no minimum follower count is necessary. Anyone who wishes to participate may submit their entry via the submission form.
  • Videos should not contain offensive language, discriminatory comments, or explicit content. Content deemed inappropriate will be disqualified.
  • All content submitted may be shared on Athletes.org’s social media channels, website, and other promotional platforms. Participants should only submit content they are comfortable making public and should avoid sharing any sensitive or personal information.
  • Videos must be submitted on time as per the competition schedule. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • By entering the competition, you grant Athletes.org the right to use your video for promotional purposes, including on social media, the Athletes.org website, and other marketing materials.
  • The competition will follow a bracket-style system. Each week, videos will be judged head-to-head against another participant’s video. Winners of each match-up will move on to the next round, and cash prizes will be awarded to chosen participants throughout the tournament.
  • The winner of the competition bracket will be deemed ‘National Champion,’ and awarded the grand prize of $10,000 and a fully-paid trip to AthleteCon 2025.

Athletes.org Brand Identity:

  • While Athletes.org does represent its members as a group, we are not a formally-established union. Please avoid using the word “union” to refer to AO. You may use the term “players association” instead!
    • A “union” refers to an organization that represents its employees. College athletes have not currently been defined as employees, but still deserve the representation and support that an organization provides. Athletes.org (AO) is that organization.
  • The term “student-athlete” has long been used to avoid granting athletes the protections and compensation they deserve. Click here to learn more! Instead, please use the term “college athletes!”
  • Athletes.org is the players association for college athletes. Our mission is to educate, organize and represent our members as a group by negotiating the terms of their collegiate athletic experience.
    • Before you record, make sure to watch the What is Athletes.org? video, and read about AO’s mission and offering on our website to ensure your video aligns with AO’s goals as an organization.
